in Japanese Folklore. 

You know, in Pokémon Series, Ninetales was a Fire Type Pokémon 

was referenced to Kitsune the Fox Spirit with nine Tails.

Sometimes, Kitsune may take some Form of some Humans 

and Kitsune is Fox in Japanese.
