Those are prehistoric Bears. 

That's a Short Faced Bear and that's a Cave Bear. 

A Short Faced Bear was better known as an Actodus.

A Short Faced Bear and a Cave Bear were Pleistocene Bears 

because they were extinct Bears 

and they were the Ancestors of modern Bears 

like Grizzly Bears, brown Bears, black Bears, and even Sun Bears. 

I guess Snorlax was absolutely based on a Cave Bear 

which is why Snorlax was a big fat noseless Bear Pokémon.
